Out of the thousands of islands that shape the Indonesian archipelago, only a few have the right conditions to grow coffee, and one of them is Sumatra. Most coffee from Sumatra’s westernmost province of Aceh is shade-grown in the Gayo highlands, almost all without chemicals. This coffee comes to us from the KSU Item Reje Gayo co-op, a Women Producer Program which provides a premium price to coffees from the nearly 300 female producers who are members of the group. Mandheling indicates a high-quality coffee and Grade 1 Triple-Picked (TP), refers to the number of times the coffee is hand-picked for defects. This extra quality control measure results in a very consistent cup that includes only cherries at optimum ripeness. Flavour Profile: Full bodied with low acidity, concentrated, earthy, herbal, smoky
Location: Gayo Highlands, Aceh
Altitude: 1,200 - 1,600 Meters
Process: Wet hulled /Semi-washed (Giling Basah)
